Arunachal to get benefit under RKVY
NEW DELHI, Sept 06: Consistent effort put in by Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki to make the state a front runner in spheres of development seems to bear fruit. His commitment towards providing special impetus to agriculture has been rightly backed by the Union Ministry as the state of Arunachal Pradesh has been made eligible to get benefits under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) a centrally sponsored programme. This was communicated by the Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar to Tuki while the later called on him in his office this evening.
The Union Minister further approved for an Agriculture College at Pasighat besides consenting to strengthen and upgrade the existing ICAR centre at Basar. Pawar also assured to consider the proposal of a Veterinary Science College for the state in the course of time.
While due importance would be provided to Bamboo mission, the Union Minister nodded for upgradation and strengthening of Pig rearing centre at Karsingsa apart from modernizing the veterinary hospitals and dispensaries across the state.
In response to the chief minister’s plea for sending a technical team to assess the feasibility of setting up of Mithun Rearing Centres in the state, the Union Minister gave a positive nod with an assurance to send a central team at the earliest possible.
“With the Centre making Arunachal eligible for RKVY, our farmers will be immensely benefitted from the programme” a seemingly happy Tuki said while extending his heartfelt gratitude to the Union Minister.

ITANAGAR, Sept 06: Normal life was affected in Arunachal Pradesh today following

The apex students’ body of the state called the bandh in support to the North East Students Organization (NESO)’s bandh call against the "atrocities" committed towards the people of the region in various parts of the country. NESO has been demanding the Center to act tough against atrocities meted out to the people of the region and deportation of illegal immigrants.
The bandh was total in all the districts of the state as business establishments, educational institutions, central and state government offices remained closed, while all sort of private and commercial vehicles remained off the road.
No cases of law and order violation were reported from any parts of the state, police sources informed.
The AAPSU had instructed its federal units to spearhead and enforce the bandh in their respective jurisdiction. However, essential services were exempted from the purview of the bandh.

Tuki meets Union Civil Aviation Minister, discusses progress of Airports development
NEW DELHI, Sept 06: The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Nabam Tuki met Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ajit Singh in New Delhi yesterday. The two leaders discussed the status of development of airports at Itanagar, Aalo, Daporijo, Pasighat, Tezu and Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh.
Singh informed Tuki that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has prepared a draft Master Plan for development of the Airport at Hollongi in Itanagar following the acceptance of the site by the State Government for construction of the Greenfield Airport in view of its technical suitability and operational safety. It was noted that the terrain at new Hollongi site permits operations on runway from both directions as compared to Banderdewa site which permits unidirectional operation. In this regard, AAI has forwarded requirement for acquisition of 320 hectare of land to the State Government.
Regarding the development of a civil enclave at aerodrome in Aalo, the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister was informed that the Airports Authority of India had sent a report in July to the State Government for removal/curtailment of obstacles around the Aerodrome for safe flight operations. The Authority has also submitted the Master Plan to the State Government and Indian Air Force (IAF) as the IAF has been mandated the development of the aerodrome. It was brought to the notice of the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister that the State Government has to act urgently on land requirement of seven acres projected by AAI for development of civil enclave.
Singh further informed that the AAI has finalized the Master Plan for Daporizo Airfield.
The Airfield has to be developed for ATR-
In case of Pasighat Aerodrome which belongs to AAI and has to be handed over to IAF for development for both civil flights and defence use, Singh said that a formal lease agreement is yet to be signed. He said that quantum of available land to be shared between IAF & AAI is in dialogue, needing reconciliation of extent of land available. The revised Master Plan has been sent to IAF for finalization of lease agreement.

SBI ATM counters remain defunct in Pasighat
PASIGHAT, Sept 06: The State Bank of India (SBI) customers here are continuously

Annoyed with the defunct ATMs and rush in the bank branch, some of the customers opined that the customers of SBI here too equally deserve quality services from the largest banking institution of the country.
When contacted, Chief Manager SBI Branch here Alok Das informed that, “effort is on to rectify all the defunct ATMs. The ATM beside the bank branch has already been rectified and the second one opposite the Ane hotel will be corrected within 15 days. The third one at Ering building near Sumo counter will take around a month to rectify completely’.
On the other hand, when the customers need to get relief from the day to day rush at SBI branch, the general public also need to have some civic sense to keep the ATM counters neat and clean. It is observed that the ATM counter beside the bank branch is made dirty and unhygienic by spitting pan masala, gutkha etc The same scenario is also observed inside the branch’s upstairs. Attending the Teachers’ Day celebration at GHSS here yesterday, Bam appealed to the teachers to be disciplined, sincere and dedicated to their duties and responsibilities. He said that there are vast differences between teaching and other professions for which he called upon the teachers to be a role model for the students and the society as well. He urged them to live up to society’s expectation and discharge duty sincerely since education is the backbone of all round development.
While paying homage to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a great philosopher and scholar, Bam called upon the teaching community to emulate the ideals of the great philosopher.
The Deputy Commissioner gave away the certificates and trophies to the best performing teachers of the district.
Bijoy Sonam, DPO cum secretary NES, said that a good teacher is like a candle which consumes itself to light the way for others. The teacher has a bigger role to play in the formative stage of a person. He advocated for good relationship between teachers and students, teachers and parents and parents and their school going children to uphold the noble profession of teaching.
East Kameng unit of Arunachal Teachers Association (ATA) president Blagang Dada highlighting the outstanding contributions of Dr. Radhakrishnan in the field of education, urged the students to abstain from adopting unfair means in examination hall. From Pisi Zaing: At Miao, the teachers of Miao Sub–Division in Changlang district were felicitated by local MLA and Minister Kamlung Mossang on Teachers’ Day yesterday.
Altogether, there are 534 teachers serving in 83 government and private schools spread over three administrative circles of Miao, Kharsang and Vijaynagar that form 50th Miao Assembly Constituency.
Minister Kamlung Mossang, who could not felicitate the teachers in three consecutive Teachers Day in 2009, 2010 and 2011 said that “owing to unavoidable circumstances, I couldn’t be part of the celebration for three years.
